AMP has been providing financial advice for over 160 years, and is a leading provider of life insurance and retirement savings in both New Zealand and Australia.
Originally started in Sydney in 1848 to ‘provide financial protection to those in need by sharing financial burdens’. Today AMP has more than 4 million customers to which they provide financial advice and services.
In 2011 AMP bought AXA Asia Pacific to create the largest financial services organisation outside of the four main banks.
One of the largest KiwiSaver providers; AMP has 12 per cent of the market and in 2016 paid out $92 million in life insurance and $32 million in trauma claims to help support families.
AMP currently has a current insurer financial strength rating of AA- (Very Strong) from Standard & Poor’s.
Currently AMP offers personal insurance under two brands; a legacy of its merger with AXA, at present they offer the following insurances:
